National Van Lines, one of the oldest and most trusted names in interstate moving, has been responsible for the safe relocation of many thousands of families across the country since 1928.

The cost of your interstate move will depend on the amount of belongings you have and the distance you want to move. The actual charges are calculated using the AMSA interstate tariff 400-N.

Please call us so that we can arrange for an estimator to come to your home and give you a full written estimate.

In the interests of scheduling efficiency we always estimate the weight as accurately as possible. If we underestimate the size of the shipment there might not be enough room on the truck whereas if we over-estimate, then space may well be wasted on the truck, and the driver will lose revenue.

The truck will be weighed at a certified scale before we start to load your shipment. This is called the Tare Weight. Once all your belongings have been loaded onto the truck, it will be weighed again, which will give us the Gross Weight. The difference between the Tare Weight and the Gross Weight will be the weight of your shipment.

There are two scales near us where trucks can be weighed. The Alameda scale is downtown Los Angeles, right by the Alameda exit off the 10 freeway. The Salco scale is by the intersection of the 110 and 405 freeways.
